Power

The exciting thing about this tramway is that it used Hydro-electric power. However, it also had to use steam engines as I mentioned in chapter 2. Simply being an electric system was a great novelty in those days, let alone hydro-electric.

Electric Power

The Hydro-electric power came from Walkmills generating plant at Bushmills. This was run on water from the river Bush.

This torrent of water is just a bit upstream from Walkmills power plant.
