Chapter 1 - Planning |
Page 7 |
On the 28th of August 1880 Royal Assent was given for Mr Traills plans. The railway was to run from the Ballycastle Railway Station (in Dervock) to Bushmills together with a tramway which would run along the roadside from Bushmills to Portrush.
The Traill brothers came up with the same difficulty as their predecessors in raising the necessary finance. It was through their friends and contacts at Trinity College that they raised the estimated amount of money that was required - £20,000. This was expected to cover all expenses that were needed.
Mr Traill lived near Bushmills.
